We believe social enterprise, not charity, is the best chance to achieve an equal menstrual hygiene world. No woman or adolescent girl should be left behind.
The initial capital to build the factory and launch the operations for the social enterprise are being raised by donations to the 501c3, GalCare, then after the factory is built and operations begins, it converts to a social enterprise that is a for-profit business. By using this hybrid model, we invest in a women-led business that locally manufactures high-quality sanitary pads.
In this business women thrive. Our business and our movement is called GalCare – so named by our team in Kenya to honor the hundreds of ways in which women support and care for each other.
The pads we make are called Galentine Care. This is what our customers will see on the shelves, in the markets, and at kiosks. The Galentine Care pads are ergonomically designed by the women who make and use them. They are affordable and available in the remotest regions. A Galentine Care pad is not just a product. It is a necessity, a sign of love, a “Valentine”- if you will- from one girlfriend to another. Every woman deserves a Galentine. Every single one.
Your support will build a factory, create jobs, promote economic independence, and bring dignity and agency to women and adolescent girls.
